Meet our Founder

Hi I am Bre’Anna Miles…I am a DMV native, wife, meditating mama to one and an avid self-care enthusiast. I am passionate about helping others uncover the importance of taking purposeful pauses to pour into ourselves in an effort to live a more peaceful & balanced existence. Staycations Anonymous  is the culmination my Self-care tools: meditation, daily affirmations, mama getaways, my love of travel and leveraging over of decade of Federal HR Recruitment and Organizational management knowledge to create the staycation experience.

When I became a mother like so many others, I lost myself in motherhood. It took extreme burnout and lots of tearful nights to acknowledge that despite having a loving husband, happy home, and healthy baby girl I was anything but all of those thing. I was so focused on being a good mom & pouring care and love into all of those around me that I didn’t realize I was woefully neglecting myself and my needs. Before my daughter was born my husband and I would often grab a hotel and have a spontaneous weekend getaway. After a particularly bad mama meltdown he suggested I take a solo weekend to get away and have some “me time”, after moving past the mom guilt I was excited to have a full 48hrs to myself. I booked my stay and my mind went on overdrive on how to make the most of my time off. Long story short I over planned and overplayed my hand; by the end of the staycation I was “productive in performative self-care” but my soul was still exhausted. The next time I set out with the intention to purposely pause and reflect on what caring for myself really meant and looked like.  From there everything changed, my relationship with my husband and my daughter deepened and expanded. I felt my own capacity to love and be loved expanded as I consistently poured into myself. I began crafting the perfect formula for the perfect staycation- a balance of rest, soulful activity and spontaneity. I   realized other mothers and women had the same struggles as me and if no one stepped in to give them permission to prioritize their self-care nothing would change.

This business venture is truly my accountability partner and passion project. It has helped me to better describe, define, and justify my need for these purposeful pauses. As a wife, mother and working woman it sometimes feels difficult to create and cultivate " a quiet moment for myself “ and having dedicated time has made all the difference in my world.

Creating this lane and this business is keeping me honest, balanced and accountable to the rituals and routines that make me my best self.  I believe it is my mission in life to spread the good gospel, the secret sauce, the magic pill of stillness to inspire those in need of more balance to reprogram their mindset around mindfulness and prioritizing self care. So it is my goal to promote, inspire and normalize mindfulness and self-care in our daily lives.
